'Aunt Jemima' cartoon raises ire
Friday, December 4
TEL AVIV, Israel, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Israeli demonstrators warned Friday any Gaza cease-fire with no mention of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit would mean his certain death, officials said.
To not take advantage of that opportunity now, about 30 protesters charged in a rally outside the Kirya Military Base in Tel Aviv, would constitute a "moral meltdown" for Israel, Ynetnews reported.
Guy Eliasaf, a friend of Shalit, said he had been informed the Hamas cease-fire proposal does not include one word about Shalit, adding, "If we sign a truce that does not include Gilad it would mean his death sentence."
Shalit was captured by Palestinian terrorists during a cross-border raid on an Israeli military base near Gaza June 25, 2006.
