QUINCY, Fla., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- An Indiana man accused of trying to fake his own death by crashing his private plane could be facing additional charges, officials say.

Marcus Schrenker, 38, a financial adviser from Fisher, Ind., was captured Tuesday at a campsite in Quincy, Fla., after allegedly carrying out a bizarre plot in which authorities say the businessman parachuted out of his small airplane, leaving it to crash into a Florida bayou near some homes, CNN reported.

Schrenker, who was briefly hospitalized after his arrest because of bleeding from his wrists, has been charged in Hamilton County, Ind., with unlawful acts by a compensated adviser and unlawful transaction by an investment adviser in connection with accusations from investors who say they were scammed.

But Schrenker could also face charges stemming from the crashing of his plane in Florida, Deputy U.S. Marshal John Beeman told CNN Wednesday.

Authorities allege Schrenker took off alone Sunday night in a Piper PA-46 from Anderson, Ind., en route to Destin, Fla., put the aircraft on autopilot and parachuted to the ground before the plane crashed in a swamp near East Milton, Fla.
