Roadside bomb kills U.S. soldier in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A U.S. soldier was killed when a roadside bomb struck a military vehicle in eastern Baghdad, officials said Sunday.

The incident happened Saturday night and was the second death of a U.S. soldier in Iraq so far this year, CNN reported.

U.S. military deaths in Iraq since March 2003 rose to 4,223 with the slaying, the broadcaster said.
