BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is expected to resume her official schedule this week after recovering from a fainting spell, officials said.
The Latin American Herald Tribune reported Sunday the 55-year-old president had received a clean bill of health during the weekend and would return to official duties Tuesday. The fainting spell was brought on by dehydration, the newspaper said. There was no other physical problem found.
"The president is recovered. All her basic ... and vital signs are normal. She has been released," presidential medical team chief Luis Buonomo told the Clarin newspaper.
Fernandez was reported to be resting in the Olivos presidential residence on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.
Her health concerns caused her to cancel public appearances last week and postpone official visits to Cuba and Venezuela.
Her husband, former president Nestor Kirchner, had confirmed Thursday she was "feeling sick," telling reporters "what's happening is that Cristina is working 23 hours a day."
She is scheduled to travel to Havana Jan. 17 and then to Venezuela four days later, officials said.
