Burglar robs nuns while they sleep

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Police say a burglar in Philadelphia slipped into the bedrooms of sleeping nuns to steal $130, a laptop computer and personal religious items.

The thief, captured on surveillance video, broke into the nuns' residence Saturday at Holy Family University, rummaged through an office and then entered their bedrooms, said Lt. Rick Sysol.

Reported missing were the nuns' pocketbooks and a silver cross a 94-year-old nun had received 75 years ago when she took her vows, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Sunday.

"This is particularly disturbing that a guy would victimize a convent full of nuns," said Sysol. "If he's willing to do this, Lord knows what he would do elsewhere."
