Multinational anti-piracy force created

MANAMA, Bahrain, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A multinational task force to fight sea piracy has been created, officials announced Thursday in Bahrain.

About two dozen nations, including the United States, are involved in the new coalition, commanded by U.S. Rear Adm. Terence McKnight.

Counter-piracy operations will be undertaken in and around the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Red Sea, the U.S. Navy said.
