NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A 24-year-old woman alleges she was sexually assaulted by a man in Orange County, Calif., after responding to his Craigslist advertisement.
The woman, whose identity was not reported, has accused 48-year-old Corey Kamyar Katir of sexually assaulting her in a room she learned was up for rent through a posting on the Internet networking site, The Orange County (Calif.) Register said Wednesday.
The alleged assault occurred on Sept. 25, one day after Katir placed the rental notice up on the popular Web site, authorities said.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office alleged after the woman spurned Katir's sexual advances, he forced her onto a bed and began fondling her against her wishes.
Katir was later arrested and charged with three felony counts, including sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment by violence.
The Register said Katir, whose next court date is on Feb. 9, is facing a 5-year prison sentence if convicted of all three felony counts.
Authorities suspect other women may have been victimized through the posting, but have not reported the crimes to date.
