ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- An Australian woman has been charged with killing her husband in a fire that began when she set his genitals on fire.

At a hearing Monday in Adelaide, prosecutors said the defendant, Rajini Narayan, should remain in jail unless she is given a psychological evaluation, The Adelaide Advertiser reported. Narayan was originally charged with arson and endangering life, but a murder charge was added Monday.

Lucy Boord, the prosecutor, said Satish Narayan was sleeping when his wife poured a flammable liquid on his groin and lit it. He got up, knocking over the bottle, which caused the fire to spread.

Rajini Narayan allegedly told neighbors she was jealous because she had discovered her husband was having an affair.

"I'm a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me, I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else," she allegedly said.

She also told neighbors she did not intend to kill her husband, Boord said.
