MANCHESTER, England, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A consumer group says it found rooms from clean to utterly filthy when it inspected Britain's most visited budget hotel chains.

The rooms added "a whole new meaning to the concept of a dirty weekend," said the report from Which?

Which? employees inspected a total of 16 rooms during four days last September at Ibis, Travelodge, Premier Inn, Jurys Inn, and Comfort Inn. The hotels all were within a mile of Piccadilly Station in Manchester and King's Cross Station in London.

In an Ibis room in Manchester, the inspectors reportedly found a badly soiled mattress with a frayed cover and growing mold, The Daily Telegraph reported. In other rooms, the inspection team allegedly found urine and blood stains, feces, food debris, fingernail clippings and high dust levels.

Ibis officials said they are taking the report seriously and have already corrected many of the problems, the Telegraph reported, noting Jurys Inn and Premier Inn were reported as having some of the cleanest rooms.
