ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Taliban-leaning militants in Pakistan's North Waziristan region killed three men accused of spying for the United states, tribesmen said Monday.

The bullet-marked bodies of the men were found near the main road between Miranshah and Bannu, along with notes written in a local language saying they were U.S. spies watching the local Taliban, the Press Trust of India reported.

The notes, indicating the men confessed, warned that anyone spying for the United States, the Pakistan Army and Afghanistan also would be killed, the PTI said.

Militants said they believe spies and the Pakistani government are passing along information to the United States on Taliban hideouts and movements. The Pakistani army has denied the charge.

Pakistan authorities said the U.S. military carried out about 50 missile attacks in the tribal regions between Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2008, and at least two since the start of 2009.
