COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Police in Columbus, Ohio, say they have detained three men allegedly linked to the killing of a woman whose 4-year-old son was kidnapped and later released.

The body of the victim, Jenny Nelson, was found in her home in Harrison Township after her son, William, told people at an Interstate 70 rest stop in Madison County that a stranger had shot his mother, taken him and then left him at the rest stop, the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported Monday.

The boy was alone, shoeless and without a winter coat when found Friday night, police said.

Three men were taken into custody Sunday in Columbus after a computer belonging to Jenny Nelson allegedly was found in their possession, said Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer.

No charges had been filed against the men, who were taken from a house near the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, The Dayton (Ohio) Daily News reported.

A car belonging to Nelson's mother, allegedly used as getaway car, was found in a parking lot in Columbus, said FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas.
