MEXICO CITY, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- A minor earthquake rattled Mexico's Baja Peninsula Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Officials said the quake was centered about 100 miles off the coast of the peninsula.

The tremor hit early Monday, rattling homes and other buildings, though reportedly caused no damage, Mexico's El Universal newspaper reported online.
