DALLAS, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Organizers of the President George W. Bush library in Dallas say they've decided to let all donors remain anonymous.
The library, scheduled to break ground in 2010, is adopting the same donor privacy policy used by President Clinton and Bush's father in building their libraries, The Dallas Morning News reported Monday.
The Clinton foundation only released names of donors and amounts after Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., was tapped to serve as secretary of state under President-elect Barack Obama. Her appointment was contingent on her husband identifying donors to his library and foundation.
The Bush foundation has raised about $3 million of the estimated $300 million needed to build his library, though fundraising is expected to pick up after Bush leaves office, said Mark Langdale, president of the George W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation.
Langdale said he is optimistic, despite economic conditions, that the money can be raised and the library started on schedule.
"Clearly, we're in tough economic headwinds, so it's going to be a harder climb than it would have been a year ago," Langdale said.
