NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Investigators in Virginia are seeking medical records for a man charged with killing his stepdaughter.

A search warrant was filed Wednesday, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported. Police asked for Kentrell Sanderson's records and psychiatric evaluations from a four-day hospital stay immediately after his Sept. 20 arrest.

The body of Shatierra Sigler was found that day in her family's apartment in Norfolk.

"Investigative leads have determined that the nature of Kentrell Sanderson's medical records and mental evaluations are relevant to the investigation of Shatierra Sigler's murder," detectives said in an affidavit.
