MIAMI, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Police say they filed attempted-murder charges Friday against a motorist who was shot when he allegedly tried to run over an officer in South Miami.
Dario Ovejro was hospitalized with a gunshot wound after be was shot in a Thursday night altercation that began with a traffic stop.

Police told The Miami Herald that they suspected Ovejero was drunk when they pulled his Lexus over. When the officer got out of his patrol car, Ovejero allegedly gunned the engine and sideswiped him.
The officer fired a shot at the vehicle, hitting Overjero who ended up crashing into some brush.
