PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors in Oregon say a Portland man will be sentenced in February for calling in dozens of bomb threats.
David Allen Nelson, 45, was living in his van when the city's Joint Terrorism Task Force nabbed him last month, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Wednesday.
Nelson pleaded guilty to one charge of threatening to blow up a building under a plea agreement in which a list of other charges will be dismissed when he is sentenced Feb. 20.
The Oregonian said Nelson used pay phones around the city to make threats to city landmarks and to the Pentagon and members of Congress. Some of the hoaxes resulted in massive sweeps of buildings plus the annual Bite of Oregon festival in Waterfront Park.
The newspaper said Nelson told prosecutors he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder.
