LONDON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Police in London say 50 officers were sent to control a bottle-throwing mob who crashed a girl's 18th birthday party after it was advertised on Facebook.
The more than 500 uninvited guests rioted when they were refused entry to Club 791 in Thornton Heath, The Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries, the Mail reported, noting word of the party spread rapidly after it appeared on Facebook, a popular social networking Web site.
"There were a lot of police on the ground and an ambulance and they were all out there for at least two and a half hours. It was really scary," said Raffat Siddiqui, 62, who lives near the club.
Police ordered the club closed for 24 hours after the Dec. 23 riot.
