Mexico setences smuggler to 60 years

MEXICO CITY, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A human smuggler who helped traffic some 200 people into the United States from Mexico was sentenced to 60 years in that country.

Among those Salim Boughader Mucharrafille reportedly helped sneak across the U.S. border were supporters of the armed Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah, El Universal reported Monday.

The U.S. government considers Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

A Mexican with Lebanese ancestry, Boughader helped people sneak into the United States from the Mexican border town of Tijuana, the report said.
