NEW YORK, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- A New York woman gave birth to five healthy babies after rejecting doctors' advice to reduce the number of embryos, her husband says.
"It feels really good because a lot of doctors said it wouldn't happen," said Kevin Ferrante of Staten Island. "A lot of doctors wouldn't take us on as patients."
Jamie Ferrante, 32, gave birth Saturday by Caesarean section to four girls and one boy at the Staten Island University Hospital, the New York Post reported Sunday.
The babies were born healthy but two months premature and will remain in the hospital's neo-natal unit for observation for several weeks, the Post reported.
Doctors recommended a reduction in the number of embryos last July when Jamie discovered she was pregnant after taking fertility drugs.
"But we decided not to do that," Kevin said. "We left it in God's hands."
