In Mosul, a bicycle-riding bomber blew himself up near the convoy of Sunni party leader Muhammad Shakir al-Ghannam during a demonstration, Xinhua said. At least three people died and 20 others were hurt, a local police source told the news agency.

Al-Ghannam, who heads the Iraqi Islamic Party in Mosul, wasn't hurt in the attack because his vehicle was armored, the source said. He was arriving at the rally to protest the Gaza Strip bombing by Israeli aircraft, the source said.
