FALLUJAH, Iraq, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Suicide bombers struck in Fallujah and Mosul, Iraq, Sunday, killing at least five people and wounding 27 more, authorities said.
In Fallujah, a car bomber detonated his deadly cargo near a police patrol, killing two people and wounding seven, a provincial police source told Xinhua, the state-run Chinese news agency.
In Mosul, a bicycle-riding bomber blew himself up near the convoy of Sunni party leader Muhammad Shakir al-Ghannam during a demonstration, Xinhua said. At least three people died and 20 others were hurt, a local police source told the news agency.
Al-Ghannam, who heads the Iraqi Islamic Party in Mosul, wasn't hurt in the attack because his vehicle was armored, the source said. He was arriving at the rally to protest the Gaza Strip bombing by Israeli aircraft, the source said.
