MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A second pipe bomb found in a north Minneapolis neighborhood this week exploded while police tried to defuse it remotely, authorities said.
The Star Tribune reported Saturday that no one was injured by the blast.
A homeowner found the explosive device Friday and a police bomb squad was called in to remove it, the Minneapolis newspaper reported.
"One pipe bomb is pretty unique, but two is far more than a coincidence," said Minneapolis police Sgt. Jesse Garcia, adding the investigation is ongoing.
On Tuesday, a pipe bomb exploded in an alley, about two blocks from where the second device was found. The blast blew small holes in the side of a garage when it went off about midnight.
