LONDON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A spokesman for a London hospital has said Faith Williams, a conjoined twin whose sister died weeks earlier, died Christmas Day.
The Great Ormond Street Hospital spokesman confirmed that Faith died Thursday at the site where she was separated from her sister, Hope, three weeks ago, The Times of London said Friday.
"While this is a sad outcome, it is not an unexpected one," spokesman Agostino Pierro said of Faith's death.
Hospital doctors had warned the girls' parents, 18-year-old Laura Williams and her husband Aled, that Faith had a limited chance of surviving after her sister died during the surgical separation.
"We were always clear that Faith was very sick," Pierro said. "She required the full range of skills of our intensive care staff, and underwent a number of further procedures. However, she succumbed to the complexities of her condition."
The Daily Telegraph said both Williams and her 28-year-old husband had remained close to the hospitalized twins since she gave birth to the conjoined twins on Nov. 26.
