BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- The incoming district attorney in Boulder, Colo., says he might send the JonBenet Ramsey homicide case back to police.

The 6-year-old's death remains unsolved after 12 years of investigation. The girl's family was exonerated by District Attorney Mary Lacy this year, the Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera reported Friday.

Stan Garnett, who takes office as Boulder's chief prosecutor on Jan. 13, said he is wading through the evidence and history of the case. He said he also he plans to meet with investigators before deciding how to handle it, the newspaper reported.

"I want to look very closely at the resources of the DA's Office and make a careful decision about what resources to continue to expend on the case," Garnett said. "There is something seductive about this case that can cause every law-enforcement person who works on it to become fascinated with its twists and turns and thereby spend endless energy on it."
