LAHORE, Pakistan, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani says there will be no war with India, but adds Pakistan is ready to turn back any aggression.
Gilani, addressing a convocation at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore Wednesday, said he did not foresee a war with India, but criticized New Delhi for trying to deflect attention from its own intelligence shortcomings and scapegoating Islamabad for the Mumbai terror attacks, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
The prime minister also said Pakistan condemns all terrorism and indicated the army was assessing the India situation and was "fully alert" to respond to aggressive moves.
"If they (India) try to indulge in any adventure of this kind, the people and institutions of Pakistan are united," Gilani was quoted saying by the Press Trust of India.
Gilani said there was "great public pressure on the Indian government" in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, adding, "There was an intelligence failure and they want to make someone the scapegoat."
