1 killed, 4 wounded in Lahore truck blast

LAHORE, Pakistan, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- A woman was killed and four people wounded Wednesday when a truck bomb exploded in a heavily guarded neighborhood of Lahore, Pakistan, officials said.

The neighborhood, called GOR-II, is home to many government officials, the Dawn newspaper reported. Police said the explosives were planted in a parked mini-truck, killing a woman and wounding four other members of a Christian family driving to a Christmas-related event.

Dawn said the bomb truck bore an official government registration plate and was obliterated, with the force of the blast scattering pieces for 200 yards.

Bomb disposal experts told Paktribune 8 to 10 kilograms of explosives had been placed in the truck.
