HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Hollywood, Fla., allege a fortune teller bilked five customers of nearly $65,000 by promising to rid them of curses and evil spirits.

Gina Marie Marks, also known as Regina Milbourne, allegedly promised her clients a psychic shower if they first put up money, which she said would be returned after the person was cleansed, said the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The clients allege Marks, 35, never returned the money and now can't be found, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

Using the name Regina Milbourne, Marks several years ago wrote a book called the Miami Psychic. When she was interviewed about the book in 2004, Marks told the Herald she became psychic at age 11 when she nearly drowned while swimming and was without a heartbeat for five minutes.

"I saw a white light but was told not to enter," she said. "I heard angels talking. I had a duty to fulfill on Earth.''
