Brit convicted of sex on beach detained

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Authorities in Dubai say a British man convicted of having sex on a beach was detained by police as he prepared to board a flight to England.

Vince Acors, 34, of London, was detained Monday night at Dubai Airport because his papers were not in order, said his lawyer, Andrew Crossley.

"The situation is close to becoming farcical and Vince is severely disappointed," Crossley said.

Acors three-month jail sentence had been suspended on appeal and Acors ordered deported with Michelle Palmer, 36, of Oakham, England, The Times of London reported Tuesday. Palmer's whereabouts were unknown, the Times reported.

Police said Acors and Palmer were seen having sex on Jumeirah Beach last July after meeting at a champagne brunch in a luxury hotel. Acors and Palmer denied having sex but admitted being drunk, the Times reported.
