Clinton campaign debt at $6.4 million

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, R-N.Y., owes $6.4 million in presidential campaign debt to 16 creditors, U.S. Federal Election Commission reports say.

Clinton has forgiven a $13.2 million personal loan made to her failed presidential campaign and has said she aims to have the remainder of the campaign debt paid off before her possible confirmation as secretary of state, CNN reported Sunday.

Spending reports filed Saturday with the election commission showed Clinton began November with $985,000 in her campaign account and raised about $290,000 by the end of the month. The campaign paid out $1.2 million to unpaid vendors, ending November with $188,000 in her campaign account, CNN reported.

The largest remaining unpaid creditor is Penn, Schoen & Berland, a consulting firm that advised Clinton during her presidential bid, CNN reported.
