ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- The first anniversary of Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination will be honored with a commemorative coin, a government release says.

The Associated Press of Pakistan said, according to a press release, the government will remember Bhutto's Dec. 27, 2007 killing by issuing 300,000 pieces of the 10-rupee coin.

A five-pointed star and a waxing crescent moon will be featured on the coin, along with the phrase "Islami Jamhuria Pakistan."

A portrait of Bhutto, whose full name was Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, will also be featured on the coin along with the late prime minister's full name in Urdu script.

The two-time Pakistani prime minister was killed last December in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, weeks before the country's general election was to take place.

The Associated Press of Pakistan said the honorary coins will join a 10-rupee banknote in the Pakistani economy.
