Mom sought for abduction, daughter found

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A woman accused of kidnapping her two young daughters and hiding them in an ant-infested hole on a Florida beach has been found with one girl, officials said.

The other daughter of Tammy Kong-Kham had been found earlier after the 10-year-old was allegedly abandoned and wandered to a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., shopping mall to beg for food, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Kong-Kham, of Philadelphia, was found Tuesday huddled under a piece of cardboard with her 8-year-old daughter Kimberly on a loading dock in Tamarac, Fla., by Joseph Scimeca Sr., 62, Tamarac's senior code enforcement officer.

Police said the mother, wearing a blond wig, snatched her daughters from foster care in Philadelphia in October. Fort Lauderdale police had been looking for them since last week when they found the pit under a beach playground where Kong-Kham allegedly forced the two girls to remain silent for months.
