LONDON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Britain's agreement to share its "Big Brother" databases with the European Union could draw innocent people into foreign criminal cases, some lawmakers warn.

Under the plan, all 26 other member countries will be able to check against sensitive personal information on Britain's DNA, fingerprint and driver registration computer systems, he Daily Telegraph reported.

Where there's a match, rightful or not, a suspect could be extradited to face trial on perhaps a serious but unfounded charge, critics say.

"There is a real risk that a disproportionate number of innocent British citizens will be sucked into foreign criminal investigations," Shadow Home Secretary Dominic Grieve warned.
