WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration committee has raised $10 million so far and has disclosed the names of all donors on its Web site, officials say.
Obama's group has limited contributions to the inauguration when compared to President George Bush, who raised $42.8 million for his 2005 swearing-in. As in his presidential campaign, Obama has also banned contributions from corporations, political action committees, registered lobbyists, foreigners and registered foreign agents, The Washington Post reported Saturday.
The inauguration will be held Jan. 18-21, highlighted by the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony. Officials expect up to 4 million visitors to come to Washington for the event.
Donors are being limited to $50,000 and their identities are posted within 48 hours on the inauguration committee's Web site, officials said. Donors so far include liberal activist and hedge fund billionaire George Soros, as well as entertainment industry figures such as actors Sharon Stone, Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx, the Post said.
"From the beginning, we've said we're going to plan the most open and accessible inauguration in history, and that includes using 21st Century technology to give the American people access to information about donors to our committee," co-chair Penny Pritzker said in a statement.
