MEMPHIS, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- The case against two white supremacists who allegedly planned to kill U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will be heard in April, officials said.

Daniel Cowart and Paul Schlesselman, who are being held without bond, appeared briefly Friday before U.S. District Court Judge J. Daniel Breen, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported.

Breen reset the case for April 17. On that date, the men may announce whether they wish to go to trial or enter a guilty plea, the newspaper said.

Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Schlesselman, 18, of West Helena, Ark., allegedly planned to go on a multi-state killing spree, targeting blacks and ending with an attempt to assassinate Obama.

They were arrested Oct. 22. They face up to 50 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
