ETA prisoners transferred to Basque jail

MADRID, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Ten Basque separatist prisoners were transferred from their detention facilities to ones in the Basque homeland in Spain after denouncing violence.

The incarcerated member of the Baaque group ETA were rewarded for denouncing the violence tactics currently used by the group, El Mundo newspaper reported Friday.

ETA, the Basque acronym "Basque Homeland and Freedom," has been blamed for a recent increase in violence including bombings in the disputed territory along the French and Spanish border.

Some 800 people have been killed in ETA violence over the last three decades.
