HUDDERSFIELD, England, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Investigators say that a dieting English woman collapsed and died after drinking too much water too fast.
A coroner concluded Thursday that Jacqueline Henson was a victim of accidental death, The Times of London reported. At the inquest in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, Roger Whittaker, the coroner, heard evidence from Henson's husband and from a representative of the LighterLife diet, a commercial weight-loss plan.
Henson, who weighed almost 200 pounds after giving birth to her fifth child, was "over the moon" about the weight she had lost, Brian Henson said. He said that on the day she collapsed, she returned from work, drank two large bottles of water and sat in front of the television with another glass of water.
Joanna Neville of LighterLife said that the diet plan, which calls for eating no more than 500 calories a day, includes drinking more than four quarts of water. But she said the company clearly tells dieters that the water should be consumed in small amounts throughout the day.
