WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A former U.S. contractor alleges in a federal court lawsuit that he was unfairly imprisoned for nine months by U.S. forces in Iraq.
The unidentified contractor, identified only as John Doe in Washington court documents, alleges after serving as a translator for U.S. troops in Iraq for months, he allegedly was detained for unjust causes, ABC News reported Thursday.
"There was no justice in what happened to me," the translator suing former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said. "There was no justice involved in it."
The former employee of the defense contracting firm Titan alleges in his suit that he was detained in relation to information he had obtained from a sheik in Iraq, Abd al-Sattar Abu Risha.
The litigant alleges in November 2005, he agreed to an interview with a Navy Criminal Investigative Service agent that led to interrogation for which he was not granted an attorney.
The contractor alleges in his suit U.S. soldiers violated his due process rights by ignoring his requests for legal counsel and detaining him for months amid allegations he was a threat to coalition forces in Iraq, ABC News said.
