Joe The Plumber 'appalled' by McCain

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Joe Wurzelbacher, the Ohio man who became a major voice of Republican John McCain's presidential campaign, said he was appalled by his interactions with McCain.

CNN reported Wednesday that Wurzelbacher, known as "Joe the Plumber," told conservative talk-radio host Glenn Beck that he disagreed with McCain's support for the $700 billion bailout of the U.S. financial industry.

"When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen," Wurzelbacher said. "I asked him some pretty direct questions," he continued. "Some of the answers ... they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him."

Wurzelbacher gained prominence during the third and final presidential debate, when McCain referenced the Ohio plumber's challenge of President-elect Barack Obama's tax plan in his race against McCain.

Although he said he was disappointed with McCain, Wurzelbacher praised the Arizona senator's vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin as "absolutely the real deal."
