WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors say a former FBI agent faces sentencing for supplying confidential information to Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano.

Mark Rossini faces five years in prison after pleading guilty to five misdemeanor counts, but prosecutors say he will likely be given a lighter sentence on March 31, the Los Angeles Times said Tuesday.

Rossini entered the plea in a Washington courtroom Monday.

He was charged with conducting unauthorized searches of FBI databases on Pellicano's behalf, including several peeks at the case his fellow agents were building against Pellicano.

Pellicano, once a powerful resource for major show business figures, is awaiting sentencing on more than 70 counts of racketeering, conspiracy and illegal wiretapping.
