WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush plans to deliver an update on his strategy in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere in a speech Tuesday at West Point, N.Y.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters Monday the president also plans to talk on how to take the fight "to the enemy overseas, strengthening our counterterrorism partners, holding hostile regimes and state sponsors of terror to account, and discrediting the ideology of extremists by supporting an alternative of freedom and reform."

Bush also will highlight the importance of transforming the military to address future threats, and summarize the progress that has been made in that transformation since 2001, Perino said.
