ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The prime minister of Pakistan promised Friday that his government will work to expose the "hidden hands" behind the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, speaking at a dinner for European heads of mission, said India and Pakistan should continue peace-making efforts, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
"While the terrorists may try to derail the peace process between Pakistan and India, we should not allow them to succeed in their nefarious designs," Gilani said.
A small group of gunmen invaded Mumbai last week, targeting two five-star hotels and a Chabad Lubavitcher center. Only one of the men is known to have survived the attacks and is now a prisoner.
Indian investigators say the group trained in Pakistan and appears to have had ties to some members of the country's security forces.
Gilani said a new Pakistani strategy aimed at pacifying the lawless area along the border with Afghanistan has a good chance of success because it has broad support from officials and the public.
