MUMBAI, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Five of the gunmen who took part in the deadly attacks in the city of Mumbai may still be free, an Indian news agency said.

The Press Trust of India said, according to The New York Times, that evidence from a trawler suspected of being used by the gunmen indicated there may be five terrorists who have yet to apprehended or killed.

The report by the U.S. newspaper comes in the wake of a claim by the Mumbai police that all 10 gunmen who were transported on the vessel were either killed or captured.

"Based on evidence found on the trawler, it was possible that five other men were involved in the plot and were still at large," the Times said.

The news of additional suspects still at large came as police allege to have linked an Indian national to the attacks that left 171 people dead, The Daily Telegraph said.

The British newspaper said Friday that police say Faheem Ansari was allegedly in possession of maps of some of the terror attack targets when he was arrested in February.

Police said Ansari had floor plans for Mumbai's main railway terminal and the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, along with sketches of other tourist sites.
