BEIRUT, Lebanon, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Lebanon's parliamentary elections will be conducted next spring as scheduled, and concerns that they might be canceled are unjustified, senior officials say.

Some local officials have voiced serious concerns about the elections because of deep rifts across the country's political spectrum. Elections are expected between April 20 and June 29, KUNA reported.

Officials also cite possible conflict with the March court date in the assassination former Prime Minister Rafic Al-Hariri.

Since Al-Hariri was assassinated more than three years ago, security incidents have caused numerous deaths and much damage in the country.
