DC MAYOR, MD, VA GOVERNORS MEET TO DISCUSS REGIONAL ISSUES

RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine says he would not consider a Cabinet position before the end of his term in 2010.

Several reports indicated Kaine was on President-elect Barack Obama's short list for secretary of education. However, The (Hampton Roads) Virginian-Pilot reported Thursday Kaine reiterated his intention to remain Virginia's governor until his term expires in 2010.

"It would not be right to leave for a Cabinet position," Kaine said during his monthly radio talk show on WRVA in Richmond.

Kaine said he told Obama several times he would not consider a Cabinet position before the end of his gubernatorial term.
