LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- DNA evidence has linked an unsolved rape and assault to the killing of anchorwoman Anne Pressly of Little Rock, Ark., police said.

Little Rock police said DNA evidence from an attack on a woman in Marianna Ark., in April matched that from the scene of Pressly's rape and beating Oct. 20. After the attack, Pressley, 26, was in a coma until her death five days later.

Curtis Lavell Vance was arrested Nov. 26 and charged with Pressley's murder.

"It took a day to get (the DNA evidence) compared," police public information officer Lt. Terry Hastings said. "On Wednesday afternoon, investigators were notified that it was a match."

The victim in the other case was attacked and raped in her own home, but police were unable to find a suspect until they found that DNA from the two cases matched Vance, detectives said.
