Bodies of soldiers killed in 1950 located

LONDON, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- British military authorities say they believe they have found the bodies of two young soldiers who died in a plane crash in Malaysia in 1950.

Oliver Goldsmith and Ray Wilson, both 21 when they died, were from Wiral in the Liverpool area. The military is trying to locate surviving relatives for DNA testing to confirm the identities of the remains, the Liverpool Daily Post reported.

The soldiers were serving with the Royal Army Service Corps during the Malaysian Emergency in 1950. They were passengers on an RAF Dakota that crashed in a remote area, killing the 12 people on board.

A rescue party that reached the crash site on foot -- taking a week to get there -- buried the bodies on site. Recent expeditions to the site located the wreckage of the aircraft and then human remains.
