Radio Netherlands/Expatica said Thursday that Christian Democrats, the Dutch Labor Party and the Christian Union are all supporting a proposal to have government officials answer to residents of the Netherlands.
Details regarding how many calls would be placed and how citizens would be chosen to receive the calls were not reported.
The proposal before the Parliament would include telephone calls from officials to citizens regarding pending decisions or to explain recent decisions.
Labor Party officials say the proposal could potentially limit court cases and appeals, along with decreasing the number of government mistakes.
A total of 4 million working hours are lost each year due to appeals of government decisions, the interior ministry said.
Radio Netherlands/Expatica said the concept has been used in the North Brabant province, where a trial run of official telephone calls was heralded a success.
