The house where Danielle and Brittany Cann live with their father and stepmother was scheduled to be sold at auction Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported. At the last minute, the sale was put off until Jan. 13.
Wayne and Melissa Cann rent the house in Easton, Mass., and said they only learned it was in foreclosure when a friend said there had been a notice in the newspaper.
The teenage sisters were living with their mother in Norton last year when her boyfriend went on a shooting spree, ending by taking his own life. Another sister was away at the time.
Danielle and Brittany have recovered physically and are participating in cheerleading and sports -- with Brittany playing the Wicked Witch of the West in a production of "The Wizard of Oz."
Their father, who calls his daughters "miracles," hopes to remain in Easton for their sake and for his stepdaughter and two sons.
The auction was postponed because of the Fannie Mae (NYSE:FNM) and Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) suspension of foreclosures and evictions over the holidays.
