PEMBROKE PINES, Fla., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A 7-year-old boy in Broward County, Fla., allegedly used a knife to rob a fellow elementary school student of $1, school officials allege.

Broward school district spokeswoman Nadine Drew said the boy, whose identity has not been released, was suspended from Pines Lakes Elementary School in last week's alleged incident, The Miami Herald said Wednesday.

The boy allegedly cornered a 6-year-old student in a school bathroom and threatened the child with a kitchen knife officials suspect he took from his family's home, Broward schools spokesman Keith Bromery said.

The mother of the unidentified victim reported the alleged crime Monday, leading school officials to contact police.

The alleged incident also prompted a school administration letter to students' parents regarding responsible behavior in school.
