ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Ten people died and 49 were injured in a suicide bombing that detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near a checkpoint in northern Pakistan, police said.

The truck was in the line of vehicles near the Sangota security post on the Charbagh-Mingora road when the explosives were triggered, Dawn reported.

The 10 dead were all civilians, police said, and two of the injured were security personnel. Police said the bomber was trying to ram his truck into the checkpoint.

Elsewhere, one soldier died when a security detail returning from a search operating in Qamber was ambushed, officials said. A man who attacked the convoy was killed when security forces returned fire.
